Black History Month 2024 is a community event to celebrate, and learn more about our historical Black leadership. The theme of Black History Month 2024 is “African Americans Art and Education.” In line with this theme, a short 30-minute play depicting the opposing philosophies of W.E.B. Dubois and Booker T. Washington will be the central live performance of the day. This period production depicts a conversation on civil rights, their philosophies on how to acquire racial justice, and form black leadership.
A structured community conversation that compares and contrasts our current conditions to our history regarding civil rights and systemic racism will be facilitated in an effort to collectively work together to determine our path forward.
The purpose of the BHM 2024 program is to focus on our Black youth. We aim to empower them with education about their past, help guide their present, and inspire them to lead their communities.
Columbus Public Health, Franklin County Public Health, Urban Strategies, Inc. and the OSUCCC James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute are proud to host this FREE community event.
